Launch date announced for Understanding English Places (UEP)
TODAY is a GOOD NEWS day as we announce the official launch date of Understanding English Places (UEP) – an independent and comprehensive source of facts and figures on every town and city in England with a population of 3,000 or more. This equates to 1,827 places including the 33 London Boroughs.
This is a passion project that I, Julia Williams and Chris Duley have funded and delivered as we believe that national government, local government, authorities, communities and businesses need a starting point of data on towns that is easy to understand. In turn this will create better conversations, policies and evaluation of places. This is what UEP delivers. Whilst more comprehensive data exists on cities the case is not true of towns.
UEP is based on the well-established and respected Understanding Scottish Places (USP) but with additional data and functionality along with the ability to look at similar places and benchmark four places at a time. Our hope is that UK Government will support this initiative as The Scottish Government do with USP but in the mean time we have priced it very affordably with a commitment to reinvestment subscription into developing UEP. We already have a strong development pipeline we would like to implement!
